John Patriquin is a third generation New England craftsman. He learned the importance of fine workmanship from his father, a traditional house builder, and from his grandfather, an artisan blacksmith.
The relation between design and skill came naturally to him and led him to study under the British furniture maker Simon Watts, where he gained a solid foundation in woodworking technique.
John attended the University of Washington School of Art in Seattle, to continue his studies in fine art and architecture. He completed his formal training at the highly regarded Program in Artisanry at Boston University, where he earned a BFA degree in furniture design.
John is an experienced designer and collaborates perceptively, offering informed solutions at the right moment. He creates intelligently designed furniture and built-in cabinetry that is beautiful, intuitively functional, and meticulously crafted to last for generations.
John Patriquin Woodworking is recognized as a superior custom workshop, sought out by professional designers, respected builders, and discerning individuals, who value thoughtful design brought to life with exceptional craftsmanship.
His work has been placed in many notable homes and institutions throughout the New York/New England region.
